“GT5″ And “PS4″ In The Same Sentence…Say It Isn’t So

t isn’t so. Everyone can take a huge sigh of relief because the launch of Gran Turismo 5 on the PlayStation 3 it is still on schedule for November 2, 2010. So what does the PS4 have to do with GT5? According to the head honcho of Polyphony Digital, Kaz Yamauchi, GT5 and the PS4 have more in common than you would believe.

“The level of precision we’ve achieved [in GT5] is actually more suited to the next generation of machines.”

Apparently the art team has been thinking ahead to the “next generation” (yeah, that term is coming back) of the PlayStation hardware. Which is a good practice, especially since many of these cars will be recycled in future iterations of the franchise. But how detailed are these 200 premium cars?

“The detail that goes into a premium model [has] gone beyond the level of the current PlayStation.”

So what can we make of this statement? My guess is that we will be seeing the premium models in the photo mode or selection screens and the actual in game model will be a high res LOD. This is good news to hear that studios are actively looking toward the future consoles and even better…maybe GT6 will be a PS4 launch title?
