PlayStation 3 Update v3.42 Adds Additional Security, Official Game Of Cat And Mouse Begins

090710-ps3_update o as everyone knows by now the PlayStation 3 has officially be hacked by, well, hackers. The USB key hacks will allow users to run unsigned code on there system which will give them access to homebrew, emulators and software backups. Of course Sony isn’t too keen on this idea and has patched the security hole in the latest firmware 3.42. So just like the PSP scene the game of cat and mouse has officially begun between Sony and the hackers. Here’s the scenerio – Sony releases a patch, hackers break through, Sony releases another patch, hackers break through…see where this is going? So get used to monthly or even weekly system updates to thwart the modding scene.

It was bound to happen sometime. Hope for the best and expect the worse. Hopefully Sony can block the hackers enough without us having to install new updates very often.
